Casa Rosa

Out of the respect for the 230-year-old building, Christina spent two years on the renovation of Casa Rosa, making sure that everything used for the décor was selected with care and consideration. While staying true to its Sicilian roots, the renovations introduced a modern twist without adding unnecessary weight to the house. The several centuries old frescos adorning the ceilings were restored to resemble their original magnificence, and the hand-made inlaid tiles in the floors were kept as a nod to the building’s historic roots.

Respect for Casa Rosa’s authenticity had to be maintained at all times, and everything that could be saved from the original house was kept and used again. Some items were repurposed in combination with modern pieces, while some were used in its initial way, when it was possible to find the same tiles, ceramics or wood as was originally used. The original elements of the house were contrasted by the addition of modern steel and glass furnishings. In combination with the soft textures and feminine, almost romantic interior pieces, Christina manages to create a space that balances the old-fashioned with the contemporary, elevating the historical element without making the house seem dated.
